Quick start
From install to your first answer.
The phone is the bridge between OpenClaw and the glasses. Complete setup on Android first; the HUD depends on the phone connection.
Connect OpenClaw
Scan a trusted Gateway QR/setup code, or enter its private TLS host and port. Approve the new device when requested.
Connect Rokid
Choose Hi Rokid or Direct, authorize when requested, scan for the glasses, then connect them.
Install the HUD
Open Settings → Updates and install or update the bundled glasses app. Keep both devices awake during transfer.
Start a session
Choose a session, agent and model, then type, speak or attach a selected photo and follow the streamed reply.
Connection security: ClawLensXR requires a secure wss:// Gateway endpoint. A private Tailscale route can provide reachability; no Funnel or public Gateway exposure is required.

- Connection cardsGlasses and OpenClaw cards show connected, connecting or attention-required states. Tap the relevant card or open Settings when recovery is needed.
- Chat contextExpand the context row to switch the active session, agent and configured model without leaving the chat.
- ComposerType a message, stage selected photos, use the microphone/Talk Mode control, send, or stop the exact active run.
- PhotosUp to four captured photos can be staged for the next message. A selected photo is sent only when you submit it or use an immediate-send command.
- VideoVoice commands start and stop native glasses recording. Clips are limited to 60 seconds, remain in glasses storage and are viewed in Hi Rokid; ClawLensXR does not upload or analyze them.
- Talk ModeTap the prominent control to enable hands-free follow-up or always-listening behavior. It shares microphone ownership with captions and recording.

Some controls appear only when supported, connected, or relevant. Advanced diagnostics may be hidden in production until evidence is available.
Account Phone
Membership controls the protected app downloads and entitlement used by the Android app.

Rokid glasses HUD
Fast controls without taking out the phone.
This diagram follows the current six-item HUD menu. The phone remains responsible for credentials, provider setup and software management.
- PhotoCapture and stage a photo. Up to four can be attached; Send/Clear appear in the input staging area. You can also capture photos hands-free with a voice command through the glasses.
- Agent / Session / ModelOpen a catalog, swipe through available items, tap to select and double-tap to cancel.
- SizeCycle the HUD position through Full, Bottom and Top.
- MoreSelect Compact, Normal, Comfortable or Large text; open slash commands; toggle Talk Mode, captions or voice; stop/replay TTS; stop an active run.
Swipe forward/backScroll chat or move through the focused menu/list.
Single tapJump to latest chat text or select the focused action. During TTS, stops speech.
Double tapCancel/close a menu. From normal chat, opens the exit confirmation.
Long press / AI keyStart voice input or activate/interrupt Talk Mode behavior.
Voice camera commands
Say the action clearly.
Command availability follows the active speech path and language. Photo commands can send visual context; video remains local to the glasses.
“Take a photo”Capture and stage a photo for the next message.
“Take and send a photo”Capture and send immediately to the active session.
“Read this” / “Translate this” / “Identify this”Capture a selected photo and ask the active assistant for the requested visual task.
“Start video recording” / “Stop video recording”Control native glasses recording. Clips stay in glasses storage and can be checked in Hi Rokid.
Troubleshooting
Recover safely before resetting anything.
Gateway will not connect
Check the private route, TLS certificate, wss:// host/port and Tailscale status. Approve the pending ClawLensXR device in the Gateway.
Glasses are paired but asleep
Keep the Bluetooth bond. Use Wake glasses now or the recovery prompt; if instructed, press the glasses button three times until the blue LED advertises again.
Voice does not start
Confirm microphone permission and recognition language. Stop competing caption, Talk Mode, dictation, video or TTS activity, then retry.
Spoken replies are silent
Check provider/key/voice on the phone and ensure Voice is enabled in the HUD More menu. Use Replay only when the latest response is available.
Photo does not arrive
Wait for capture completion, keep fewer than four staged photos, confirm the active session and reauthorize Hi Rokid media access if requested.
Video seems missing
Check Hi Rokid and the glasses’ native media store. ClawLensXR does not import or upload video, so it will not appear as a chat attachment.
Before sharing a support screenshot
Blur Gateway hosts, account details, session/agent names, chat messages, device identifiers and any credential field—even if a key looks masked.
